Lpp-OmpT (LOT)
Lpp-OmpT is a small (20 kDa) anchor motif for visualizing proteins on the cell surface. It is a derivative of the E. coli outer membrane protease OmpT fused to the signal peptide and the first nine amino acids of the E. coli lipoprotein Lpp. Hui et al. (2019) demonstrated that it generates highly efficient translocation and stable surface anchoring of the fused gene productions. Unlike OmpA, the LOT system does not generate outer membrane destabilization, which is a great advantage.
